A dry washcloth makes a great fitness prop for preschoolers to explore creative movement. On rainy days or indoor play days, reach for a washcloth and these simple instructions to keep preschoolers active and healthy in creative fitness play. In addition to exploring creative movement, preschoolers will explore abstract concepts such as large and small and over and under. Fitness for preschoolers can be as simple as tossing a washcloth and reading simple instructions.

Washcloth Creative Movement Activities

Although the instructions for creative movement are simple, most preschoolers are eager to listen to the verbal instructions and respond with appropriate movements. Exploring creative movement is similar to playing a game for preschoolers because it challenges preschoolers with a new task to accomplish. As well as offering new movement ideas to preschoolers, creative movement activities also develop listening skills, vocabulary skills and thinking skills….

**Elle here: We played this game today and my daughter absolutely loved it! Even my 7-year-old wanted to participate! It’s so simple, but so much fun for the little ones. It’s all about following directions such as “Put both feet on the washcloth,” or (my favorite) “Put the washcloth over your head!” It’s such a clever little game to teach concepts such as on and off and, of course, great listening skills!  Enjoy!
